2009-2010

This is a performance in which volunteers are asked to follow a video projection of Yvonne Rainer performing her piece Trio A. None of the participants are familiar with the choreography, which is challenging even for a trained dancer due to its unusual and unpredictable sequence of movements. The performance is a serious and concentrated attempt resulting in a humorously imperfect game of catch-up.
Variations is part of a series of works dealing with the restaging of Yvonne Rainer's Trio A, which was reworked numerous times over the years by Rainer herself as well as others.
